Lazarus Scores Four Rushing TDs In 56-7 Win Over Stonehill

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 17) - Freshman running back Anthony Lazarus rushed 16 times for 145 yards and four touchdowns Saturday afternoon at Hickox Field, as he led the C.W. Post football team to a 56-7 win over visiting Northeast-10 foe Stonehill.

Sandwiched between two Lazarus scoring runs (8, 6 yds. each) in the first quarter was a 14-yard pass from Rob Blount to Ryan Heller , as the Pioneers (2-1, 2-0 NE-10) scored the first 49 points in the contest.

Matt Albanese, a junior starting linebacker, had a 6-yard touchdown run as a fullback for his collegiate score, 37 seconds into the second quarter. Adebayo Adedapo added a nine-yard scoring jaunt halfway through the quarter, before Lazarus scampered in from 3 yards away to make the score 42-0 at halftime.

The Pioneers, who outgained the Skyhawks (2-1, 2-1 NE-10) by a 323-32 count on the ground, got a 36-yard score from Lazarus with 9:15 left in the third quarter to put the hosts up 49-0. Stonehill, who entered the game without having scored a point in the teams' three previous meetings in Brookville (1997, '00, 02), broke the shutout with 2:40 remaining in the third on a 19-yard pass from Jon Kaloyanides to Mike Plichta to cut the deficit to 49-7.

Josh Amaro (10 car., 83 yds.) finished off the scoring for C.W. Post in the fourth quarter, as he went in on a 2-yard run with 1:07 remaining.

Offensively, Lazarus has now scored eight touchdowns combined in his first-three collegiate outings. Blount was 14-for-18 passing for 155 yards and the touchdown pass to Heller (5 rec., 53 yds.). Wide receiver Jo-el Kimaiyo (game-high-tying 6 receptions) led all players with 82 receiving yards. Redshirt freshman Pierre Delva registered 3.0 tackles for loss, one sack, and tied for the team lead of six tackles with Justin Graham and Jeremy Boyle .

For the Skyhawks, running back Cliff Mason II picked up 63 all-purpose yards (15 rushing, 48 receiving). Seven of Vincent Delaney's game-high 11 tackles (INT, 25-yd. return) were of the solo variety.

The next game for head coach Bryan Collins's Pioneers is Sept. 24, when CWP will travel to Manchester, N.H., for a 1 p.m. game at NE-10 foe St. Anselm. Stonehill will also play next Saturday, as the Skyhawks will play host to Division I-AA school Iona at 2 p.m.
