In his first year as head coach of the LIU Post track and field programs, Pat Slevin was rewarded with 19 All-ECC nominations between indoor and outdoor track and field. Additionally, LIU Post was victorious in four indoor events at the East Coast Conference Championships and proved to be a presence that will not go away in major invitationals.
Slevin was announced as the head coach of the cross country and track and field programs on Feb. 2, 2015 by LIU Post Director of Athletics and Recreation Bryan Collins.
Slevin comes to Brookville with over 20 years of coaching experience under his belt. Prior to assuming his now current position at LIU Post, Slevin spent the 2013-14 season as the Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track and Field Coach at Division I Manhattan College. While there, he guided the Jaspers to a ninth-place finish at the MAAC Championships.
From 1999-2012, Slevin served as Head Track and Field Coach for two of the perennial Catholic high school athletic programs on Long Island (Chaminade, Saint Anthony's). At Chaminade (2004-12), he led the Flyers to three NSCHSAA titles, while also mentoring four state champions, two national champions and a pair of USA Jr. Pan-American Game qualifiers.
At Saint Anthony's (1999-2004), where he also held the position of Head Cross Country Coach, Slevin helped the Friars to three CHSAA cross country titles (1999, 2001, 2002), back-to-back outdoor track and field championships (2001 & 2002) and a CHSAA Indoor Track and Field crown in 2000. Furthermore, Slevin coached seven state champions in his six-year tenure at Saint Anthony's.
A 1986 graduate of St. John's University, Slevin returned to his alma mater as an Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach from 1993-98. He assisted in leading the Red Storm to a 17th-place showing at the 1996 NCAA Division I Championships, and was a member of the 1996 Big East Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.
Slevin, who earned a bachelor's degree from St. John's and a master's degree in Secondary Education from Adelphi, resides in Wantagh, N.Y.
