Theron Grinage begins his sixth season mentoring the Pioneers’ defensive line in 2018.

His coaching experience dates back to 2005, when he was the Assistant Football Coach for ABGS Middle School in Hempstead from 2005-07. He later got promoted to head coach, and spent two seasons at the helm of the program.

Following the 2009 campaign, Grinage received the call to become the head coach at Hempstead High School. Two years after that, he made the jump to St. Francis Prep, where he the Varsity Defensive Line Coach from 2010-11, and again in 2012..

Plus, he spent one season at South Side High School in Rockville Centre, N.Y. as the Varsity Defensive Coordinator and Strength and Conditioning Coach.

A former student-athlete at Hofstra University, Grinage was a freshman walk-on for the Pride and spent his time on the defensive line. After graduating from Hofstra in 2001, he signed with the Staten Island Extreme of the National Indoor Football League in 2004 and played one season. He was named the Most Valuable Defensive Lineman for his efforts.

Grinage graduated from Hofstra with a bachelor’s degree in History, and a master's in Secondary Social Studies.
