Overtime Goal Sinks Men's Soccer, 2-1

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 15, 2008) - An unassisted tally in the 95th minute was the difference maker as C.W. Post men's soccer dropped an overtime thriller, 2-1 to Queens College on Wednesday afternoon.
C.W. Post slips to 6-7 with the loss and 1-4 in the ECC. Queens now stands at 8-3 overall and 4-1 in ECC play.
Queens scored first as Francisco Patino took a pass from Brian Buckmire and sent a five-yard shot into the lower right corner of the net for a 1-0 lead. The score went into halftime in favor of Queens, 1-0.
In the 55th minute the Pioneers scored the equalizer, as Joe O'Rourke (London, England) sent a pass to Julian Escobar (Hicksville, N.Y.) who beat one defender and lined a low shot into the right corner.
The two teams were unable to find the net in the remainder of regulation, and the game went into overtime. In the 95th minute, Amir Perelman sent a shot from 15-yards out that round the top corner of the net for the Queens win.
Queens outshot the Pioneers 10-6, but C.W. Post held a 6-3 corner kick advantage.
Freshman keeper Demetrios Touros (Astoria, N.Y.) made four stops in the net.
The Pioneers take the field again on Saturday, Oct. 18 as they travel to St. Thomas Aquinas College for a 3 p.m. start.
