Escobar Leads Men's Soccer Past Bloomfield, 2-0

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 26, 2008) - Senior forward Julian Escobar (Hicksville, N.Y.) scored both goals for C.W. Post as the Pioneers rolled to a 2-0 victory over the visiting Deacons of Bloomfield College on Sunday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action.
Escobar scored 12:04 into the contest when Kris Frick (Bermuda) sent a long pass from midfield. The Bloomfield keeper came out to play Escobar one-on-one, but the senior striker beat him to the right side and sent a shot into the lower left corner of the empty net for a 1-0 Pioneer lead.
Escobar's unassisted tally in the 39th minute on a five-yard shot gave the Pioneer a 2-0 lead and all the insurance they would need.
A scoreless second half for both teams gave the Pioneers their eighth win of the season.
Bloomfield drops to 10-6 with the loss, while C.W. Post moves to 8-7-1.
The Pioneers outshot bloomfield by a 13-9 count, and the teams were even with four corners apeice.
Sophomore keeper Ayrton Haddad (Scarsdale, N.Y.) made four saves in the win, including three in the second half to preserve the shutout.
The Pioneers will play their final game of the season at home as they host Concordia on October 29. The game will also be the Senior Day celebration for the Pioneeers.
