Women's Soccer Ranked Seventh In Recent National Polls
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 28, 2008)- The National Soccer Coaches Association released its weekly national poll, placing the C.W. Post Pioneers in the seventh place slot. The Pioneers have remained the only East Coast Conference team to be nationally ranked throughout their entire regular season, as they were ranked 15th in preseason polls. Last week C.W. Post had been ranked third among the nation.
The Pioneers notched two wins and a tie last week to influence the latest rankings. On October 20 the Pioneers took on Pace University, resulting in a double overtime 0-0 tie. Freshman goalkeeper
Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) made seven saves for the afternoon to earn the shut out. Wednesday the Pioneers downed East Coast Conference rival Queens College 3-2. C.W. Post finished out the week with a 2-0 win over conference rival Molloy College.
C.W. Post has earned itself first place in the East Coast Conference, ensuring a ECC playoff bid. The Pioneers will play their last regular season game October 31 as they host the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights for a conference matchup at 3 p.m.
