Women's Soccer Ranked No. 4 In Latest National Polls
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 7, 2008)- The National Soccer Coaches Association released its weekly Division II national rankings Tuesday afternoon. The C.W. Post Pioneers jumped two spots in the polls, moving into fourth place.
The recent climb in rankings comes after a successful week for C.W. Post. The Pioneers defeated East Coast Conference rival Concordia College October 4. Senior Maria Sonnerborg (Bjarred, Sweden) and sophomore Sanna Pettersson (Fellingsbro, Sweden) each notched a hat trick to lead the Pioneers to a 7-0 win. C.W. Post improved its record again as they travelled to Dobbs Ferry to take on ECC opponent Mercy College. Tove Eriksson (Helsingborg, Sweden) scored two goals to ensure a 4-0 shutout over Mercy.
The Pioneers remain the only East Coast Conference team to be ranked nationally. They are also ranked first in the NSCAA east poll, and first in the ECC.
Head Coach Mark Dawson's Pioneers will be back in action Saturday as they host Dowling College at noon.
