BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 8, 2008)-
Sophomore defender Nick Maleganos (Hicksville, N.Y.) scored his first goal of the season and junior forward Mark Whitehouse (Manchester, England) chipped in with an insurance goal as the Pioneers shutout Caldwell College, 2-0, in a non-league game on Tuesday afternoon.

After battling to a scoreless first half, the Pioneers were awarded a free kick near the right corner in the 55th minute.  Kevin McPhillips (East Williston, N.Y.) sent the ball directly in front of the net, where Maleganos managed to get a head on it and send in into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

A minute and twenty seconds later, Julian Escobar (Hicksville, N.Y.) sent a quick pass to sophomore Joe O'Rourke (London, England).  O'Rourke beat one defender to the right, then sent a perfectly placed pass to Whitehouse, who tapped it in from five-yards out.

Ayrton Haddad (Scarsdale, N.Y.) earned his third win of the season and his second shutout, making four saves in the victoring, including one from point blank range on a shot by Rob Arena with five minutes remaining.  His counterpart, John Plaugic, made three saves in the loss.

The Pioneers outshot the Cougars by a 13-7 count, and held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.

C.W. Post remains at home as they take on neighboring NYIT on October 11 at 11 a.m.
