Women's Soccer Selected To Host NCAA Div. II Northeast Regional
INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 10, 2008) – The NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Committee released the 2008 48-team tournament field today and the C.W. Post women's soccer team was selected as the first seed in the Northeast region, as well as the host site for the Northeast regional tournament.
Merrimack College and University of Bridgeport will face each other on Friday, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. with the winner advancing to face C.W. Post on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m.
The Pioneers are currently ranked eighth in the latest NSCAA national poll, and first in the Northeast region. They won their second straight East Coast Conference Championship title with a 1-0 victory over the University of Bridgeport on Nov. 9. Currently 17-2-1, the Pioneers have matched the program single-season total wins record, set in 1999.
C.W. Post hosted the regional in 2007 and advanced to the third round after defeating Dowling College, 3-0, before falling to West Chester University in the third in an overtime shootout.
Northeast Regional First and Second Round Bracket Pairings
Game 1: University of Bridgeport (16-4-1) vs. Merrimack College (12-4-2) - Friday 1 p.m.
Game 2: Winner of Game 1 vs. No. 1 C.W. Post (17-2-1) - Sunday 1 p.m.
All games will be played on Robert Blitz Field.
