American International Overcomes Halftime Deficit To Turn Back Women's Basketball, 49-48

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Dec. 13, 2008) – Sophomore guard Laechia Conley scored 13 points in the second half as American International College came back from a 16-point deficit at halftime to defeat C.W. Post, 49-48, in a non-conference women's basketball clash Saturday afternoon at Butova Gymnasium.
With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 7-5 overall. The loss halts a two-game win streak for C.W. Post as the Pioneers slip to 4-4 overall.
The Yellow Jackets shot .356 (16 of 45) from field goal range and went 14-for-22 at the charity stripe. The Pioneers finished the game shooting .310 from field goal range and held a 39-32 advantage in rebounds.
Conley completed the game with 19 points, converting 5 of 8 in free throws.
C.W. Post started the game scoring its first six points by way of three-point field goals from junior guard
#Gina Catherall# (Bayside, N.Y.). The Pioneers converted eight field goals in the first half, including three apiece from Catherall and sophomore guard
Emily Hall (Montclair, N.J.). With a 23-18 lead at 6:54, C.W. Post increased its advantage with two straight three-pointers from junior guard
Jasmine Moore (Bronx, N.Y.) and Catherall. The Pioneers finished the half on an 18-4 run to lead 38-22.
The Yellow Jackets were led in scoring in the first half by Conley and senior guard Jen Moussette, who each had six points.
In the second half, AIC outscored the Pioneers 12-2 (40-36) to quickly close the gap with 10:55 remaining. Freshman guard
Felicia Joyner (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) broke the run up with a jumper at 10:25 but the Yellow Jackets continued the press and took the lead on a trey from junior forward Kristin Boesenberg at 3:48.
C.W. Post took the lead back on a jumper from Joyner at 2:47 before the teams tied the score two more times. The Yellow Jackets closed out the game on a converted free throw from senior guard Jeanette Johnathan with 31 ticks on the clock.
In all, the game saw the lead change four times with eight tie-ups.
Senior forward Stacy Boisvert added 13 points toward the cause for the Yellow Jackets.
Hall led the Pioneers with 15 points while Catherall chipped in 11 for the Pioneers.
C.W. Post will next play at Northeast-10 member Saint Rose on Dec. 20 at 2 p.m.
