WORCESTER, Mass. (Aug. 29, 2008) – Sophomore defender Jackie Sousa (North Reading, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal as No. 15 C.W. Post defeated No. 9 Saint Rose College, 2-1, in it season opener as part of the Nike Fall Classic Friday afternoon.

Sousa's goal was scored in the 21st  minute on a feed from junior midfielder Lindsey Nick (Hauppauge, N.Y.).  

The Pioneers added a second goal in the 41st minute when senior forward Maria Sonnerborg (Bjarred, Sweden) scored unassisted.

The Golden Knights cut the lead with a goal in the 50th minute from freshman forward Gianna D'Errico in on a pass from senior forward Caitlin Naylor.

Sophomore goalkeeper Deanna Esposito (Sayville, N.Y.) made five saves in goal for the Pioneers.  Junior Shannon Murphy made two stops for the Golden Knights.

C.W. Post will continue play in the tournament when it faces host Assumption on Aug. 30.
