MANCHESTER, N.H. (Aug. 30, 2008) – Freshman goalkeeper
Christopher Kucera (Sayville, N.Y.) made four saves for the Pioneers, but a four-goal effort by the St. Anselm Hawks was more than enough offense as C.W. Post dropped a 4-0 non-conference loss on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers tried to strike first in the 22nd minute when forward
Julian Escobar (Hicksville, N.Y.) broke free, but was stopped by Hawk goaltender John Corridan on a diving save. The teams played a scoreless 40 minutes until Justin Labonte's goal in the 44th minute gave the Hawks a 1-0 advantage.
Two Jeff Dell'Orfano goals in the 79th minute followed by another in the 83rd minute gave St. Anselm a 3-0 lead, and Keesan Howe's goal in the 86th minute rounded out the scoring for the Hawks.
C.W. Post was outshot by a 17-5 count, but held a 7-6 edge in corner kicks.
Corridan made one save in goal for the Hawks.
The Pioneers return home on September 3rd, as they face non-conference foe Felician College. Gametime is scheduled for 4 p.m.
