Escobar's Hat Trick Leads Men's Soccer Past Nyack, 4-1

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 10, 2008) – Julian Escobar
(Hicksville, N.Y.) scored three goals in three minutes as men's soccer shook off a three-game scoreless streak to rally in the second half, defeating the Nyack College Warriors by a score of 4-1 in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.
The Pioneers win their first game of the season and now stand a 1-3, while the Warriors drop to 2-2.
In the 37th minute of the first half, Nyack's Daniel Ocampo had a breakaway and was fouled in the box by Pioneer goalkeeper Ayrton Haddad (Scarsdale, N.Y.), prompting a Nyack penalty kick. Ocampo's shot into the right side of the net gave the Warriors a 1-0 edge, and the score at halftime saw the Warriors lead by the same score.
The Pioneers got the equalizer in the 58th minute, when freshman David Borysewicz (Bayshore, N.Y.) sent a cross to Escobar, who one-touched the ball from five yards out past Nyack keeper Curtis Julien.
Escobar scored two minutes later when he took pa pass from freshman David Carlsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) and sent a shot from 15 yards out into the lower left corner for the 2-1 Pioneer lead.
Just twenty seconds later, Nyack's Greg Allen fouled Escobar in the box, prompting the second penalty kick of the game, which Escobar sent into the upper right corner past a diving Julien for an insurance goal.
Carlsson sent a long pass towards the net that found the head of sophomore Fabio Aquista (Whitestone, N.Y.) for the fourth goal of the game.
Haddad made three saves in the win, and now stands a 1-1 in the net. 
The Pioneers outshot the Warriors by a 12-9 count, and held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
