Altamura Helps Cross Country To 12th Place Finish
ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 10, 2009)- Freshman
Christian Altamura (Seaford, N.Y.) took 33rd place out of a field of 205 runners to help the C.W. Post men's cross country team to a 12th place finish out of 25 competing institutions at the Walt Disney Classic held in Orlando, Florida Saturday afternoon.
Altamura was the first runner to finish on the men's side, completing the 8k course with a time of 27:32.30. He was followed less than 30 seconds after by teammates
Vince Giambanco (Muttontown, N.Y.) and
Raymond Coyle (Woodhaven, N.Y.) who finished in 49th and 54th place respectively. Freshman
Matthew O'Keefe was the next harrier to cross the line for the Pioneers, completing the course with a time of 28:43.5, good for 70th place. Senior
Thomas Brouillard (Syosset, N.Y.) finished next for C.W. Post at the 29:59.7 mark, placing 114th. Freshman
David Johnson (Flushing, N.Y.) rounded out the pack for the Pioneers in 12
6th place with a time of 30:35.7.

Kristen Sweeney (Kennebunkport, Maine) led the C.W. Post women's cross country team as she completed the 5k course with a time of 21:21.5, taking 88th place out of 279 harriers. Fellow senior
Erin Lusenskas (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) crossed the line next for the Pioneers in 104th place with a time of 21:38. Freshman
Caitlin Smith (Levittown, N.Y.) followed shortly after Lusenskas with a time of 21:56.10, good for 120th place. Freshman
Katherine Wilkens (Woodbury, N.Y.) crossed the finish line at the 22:24.9 mark in 140th place. Senior
Irekpitan Ehikoya (West Hempstead, N.Y.) was the final Pioneer to cross the line in 205th place. The Pioneer women scored an overall 21st place finish out of 30 competing teams.
The C.W. Post Pioneers are back in action on October 25 as they compete in the East Coast Conference Championships.
