No. 1 Bloomsburg Escapes Field Hockey, 6-3

-Sophomore Amanda Riley (Tannersville, Pa.) recorded her first career hat trick as No. 1 Bloomsburg University defeated C.W. Post 6-3 in PSAC East field hockey action on Wednesday at Sports Stadium.

Bloomsburg improves to 13-1 overall and 6-1 in East division play while C.W. Post slips to 4-8 overall and 2-6 in division play.

The Huskies got on the scoreboard quickly when senior Breanne Tobin (Perkasie, Pa.) scored off a loose ball in front of the net 14 seconds into the game. 

The Pioneers tied the game at one when sophomore defender Helene Buckner (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) scored off of a pass from junior midfielder Vicky DeRosa (Wading River, N.Y.) on a penalty corner at the 14:35 mark. 

Bloomsburg took a 2-1 lead nine minutes later when Riley scored her first goal on an assist from senior Maggey Bloskey (Danville, Pa.). 

C.W. Post would tie the game shortly before the half when Mia Paltrineri scored off of a pass from Buckner at 31:21.

Bloomsburg took control of the game in the second half and knocked in three unanswered goals through the first 14 minutes, including two from Riley, to take a 5-2 lead. 

Riley got her second goal of the game off a Bloskey pass from the top of the circle at the 40:33 mark. 

Bloskey put one to the back of the net less than three minutes later when she scored off of a pass from Tobin. 

Riley netted her third goal of the game when she took a shot falling down and scored at the 48:59 mark. 

The Pioneers cut the lead to 5-3 when junior forward Amanda Nann (Hamburg, N.J.) found the back of the net in the 61st minute on a feed from senior forward Krystal Napolitano (Coram, N.Y.) . 

However, the Huskies would score the game's final goal at 65:24, when Tobin put a shot past the goalie off of a pass from Bloskey, her third assist of the contest.

Senior Caitlyn Koczynski (Yardley, Pa.) went the entire way in goal for the Huskies, registering four saves.

Junior goalkeeper Cortney Colern (Barker, N.Y.) made three saves in goal for the Pioneers.

C.W. Post is back in action Oct. 10 at Indiana University (Pa.) for a 9 a.m. contest.
