Beverly Selected As PSAC East Freshman Of The Year As Ten Pioneers Receive All-Conference Recognition
All-Conference Teams
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Nov. 11, 2009) – Freshman running back Thomas Beverly (Wyandanch, N.Y.) was selected as this year's Freshman of the Year in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East division as the C.W. Post football boasted 10 PSAC East All-Conference selections. The Pioneers were tied in overall selections with West Chester University for second most behind Bloomsburg University.
Beverly, who was also a First Team selection, led the PSAC in overall rushing yards with 1094 and finished second in rushing yards per game with 99.5. His impressive 5.2 average per carry was tied for second-best in the league and his 11 rushing touchdown is also fourth best. His efforts helped contribute to C.W. Post's PSAC-leading 214.5 rushing yards per game, the best in the league by over 35 yards per game. As a team, the Pioneers averaged 5.0 yards per carry, also the best in the PSAC.
Also named First Team was sophomore offensive tackle
Kevin Martin (Patchogue, N.Y.), senior wide receiver
Chris Harris (Islip, N.Y.) and junior defensive lineman
Xavier Brown (Bay Shore, N.Y.).
Rounding out the All-Conference selections on the Second Team were junior quarterback
Erik Anderwkavich (Queens, N.Y.), who was the top rushing quarterback in the conference, as well as sophomore offensive tackle
John Siopa (Centereach, N.Y.), junior defensive back
Juma McKenley (Bronx, N.Y.), junior center
Will Strano (East Patchogue, N.Y.) and senior linebackers
Peter Manns (Dorchester, Mass.) and
Tayrance Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y.).
C.W. Post completed the 2009 season with an overall record of 6-5 including a 5-2 mark in division play.
