Greer's Double-Double Leads Women's Basketball Past Chestnut Hill, 67-55

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 20, 2009) – Junior guard Shatima Greer (Central Islip, N.Y.) registered a double-double with a game-high 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead C.W. Post past Chestnut Hill, 67-55, Saturday afternoon in a non-conference women's basketball clash at the Pratt Recreation Center.
The win improves C.W. Post to 3-0 overall while Chestnut Hill falls to 0-3.
The Pioneers shot .433 (26 of 60) from the floor in the game and held a 37-34 advantage on the glass.
In the first half with the game tied at 6, sophomore forward Noelle Pawlicki (Staten Island, N.Y.) poured in a 3-pointer at 14:22 that started a 10-0 run for the Pioneers and was capped off with a layup from freshman center Nicole Marciniak (Brooklyn, N.Y.) at 11:28.
From there, the host team maintained its lead throughout the half as Pawlicki led the squad with 10 points. C.W. Post led 31-23 at the break.
The Griffins were led by junior guard Jessica Pruiti (Old Bridge, N.J.) who scored seven points.
In the first half, the Pioneers converted 13 of 31 field goal attempts (.419) and held a 20-10 scoring advantage in the paint over the Griffins. Chestnut Hill shot 8 for 21 from the floor and was 5-for-5 at the charity stripe.
In the second half, senior guard Jasmine Moore (Bronx, N.Y.) hit a 3-pointer at 18:46 that increased the Pioneers' lead to 11 (34-23) and the Pioneers maintained a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game. C.W. Post led by as many as 23 (64-41) with 3:59 left to play.
C.W. Post scored 25 points off 25 Griffin turnovers. Pawlicki finished the game with 14 points and sophomore guard Felicia Joyner (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) added 12 for the Pioneers.
For Chestnut Hill, Pruiti completed the game with 14 points with senior forward Chanta'l Hardy (Philadelphia, Pa.) chipping in 11. Sophomore forward Aiesha Smith (Philadelphia, Pa.) pulled 12 rebounds off the glass.
C.W. Post is back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 24 to host ECC foe Molloy College at 5 p.m.
