Joyner's 20 Sends Women's Basketball Past Conference-Leader Molloy, 65-57

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Feb. 21, 2009) – Freshman guard
Felicia Joyner (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) scored a game-high 20 points to lead C.W. Post past conference leader Molloy College, 65-57, in a Saturday afternoon East Coast Conference women's basketball tilt.
The win is the second straight for the Pioneers as they improve to 11-12 overall and 9-7 in ECC action. Molloy loses its second straight game and falls to 19-5 overall and 13-3 in conference action.
C.W. Post completed the game shooting .396 (19 of 48) from the field and went 24-for-34 at the charity stripe. Molloy shot .271 (16 of 59) from field goal range and was 22-for-43 from the field. The Pioneers cleaned up on the glass and held a 48-37 edge over Molloy in rebounds.
The Pioneers opened the game on an 8-2 spurt and maintained a lead throughout the game. C.W. Post built its lead to 13 with 5:09 remaining in the first half after two free throws from sophomore forward
Alyssa Lombardi (New Fairfield, Conn.). Joyner led the Pioneers with 11 points at the break.
C.W. Post maintained a steady offense through much of the second half and led by as many as 14 points after a pair of free throws from senior forward

The Lions fought back with a 13-2 run to close the Pioneers' lead to 45-42 after a three-point field goal from senior guard Jenna McLaughlin at 9:09. Molloy threatened further and cut the lead to one after a jumper from junior guard Tatiana Lopez at 7:41.
The Pioneers boosted their lead back up with a 10-3 run (57-49) with 3:40 remaining and held on long enough for the win.

Jasmine Moore (Bronx, N.Y.) registered a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds with four assists for C.W. Post.
Junior forward Kymira Woodberry led the Lions with 13 points and nine rebounds. Junior guard E.J. Dryer scored nine points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
C.W. Post returns to action Feb. 25 with a home contest against Dowling College.
