Bajrami Pushes Pioneers' Men's Soccer Past No. 16 Franklin Pierce In 1-0 OT Win

- Freshmanforward Betim Bajrami (Helsingborg, Sweden) recorded his first collegiate goal to help the C.W. Post Pioneers to a 1-0 overtime win over No. 16 Franklin Pierce University Saturday afternoon.
C.W. Post improves its overall record to 1-1 while the Ravens fall to 1-1 overall.
Both teams held each other scoreless throughout regulation time, as solid defense from the Pioneers held off 17 shots from Franklin Pierce, forcing their opponent into overtime play. Bajrami connected with teammate David Carlsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) during a free kick attempt to score the lone goal of the game, ensuring a Pioneer win.
Keeper Shane Flanagan (Lattingtown, N.Y.) made seven saves in net during 97 minutes of play for C.W. Post. Raven goalkeeper Alexander Pilitsis (Brunswicki, Maine) tallied a total of six saves for Franklin Pierce.
Head Coach Andrea Lindberg's Pioneers take the field again Sept. 5 as they travel to Southern Connecticut State University for a 7 p.m. game.
