BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 17, 2009) –
The C.W. Post field hockey team gave undefeated and top-ranked Shippensburg all it could handle on Thursday afternoon, scoring two second-half goals and pushing the game into overtime, but Shippensburg scored the game winner ten minutes into the overtime to come away with the win.

Shippensburg improves to 8-0 while the Pioneers slip to 1-4.

Shippensburg scored two goals in the first ten minutes of play, unassisted tallies by Lauren Hollingsworth at 1:39 and Sam Langone at 6:29, but the upset minded C.W. Post found their game and began to battle the Raiders, tallying their first goal on an Amanda Nann (Hamburg, N.J.), with an assist from Krystal Napolitano (Coram, N.Y.).

C.W. Post played a strong second half and finally scored the tying goal in the 48th minute of play as Sydney Hagen (Exeter, N.H.) fed a pass to Amy Lillis (Holtsville, N.Y.), who found the back of the cage for the equalizer.

The Pioneers had a chance to take the lead in the 53rd minute as C.W. Post was awarded a penalty stroke, but Shippensburg goalie Amanda Houser made a save on Nann's stroke and kept the game deadlocked at 2-2.

C.W. Post forced the game into overtime, and Shippensburg finally notched the game-winner on a goal from Laura Wylde.

CWP goalkeeper Cortney Colern (Barker, N.Y.) made ten saves in the loss, while Houser notched seven saves.  Shippensburg outshot the Pioneers 16-11 and held a 9-4 edge in penalty corners.

C.W. Post is back in action on Saturday morning as they take on Slippery Rock at 9 a.m.
