Men's Soccer Coasts Past New Haven, 3-0

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 30, 2009) – The C.W. Post men's soccer team scored three second-half goals to defeat the University of New Haven, 3-0 , on Wednesday afternoon.
C.W. Post improves to 4-4-1 overall while New Haven slips to 1-8.
The teams played a scoreless first half, despite the Pioneers outshooting New Haven by an 11-2 count. However, just three minutes into the second half on a corner kick, when freshman
Phillip Svensson (Lund, Sweden) found freshman striker
Betim Bajrami (Helsingborg, Sweden), who's header into the top left corner gave C.W. Post a 1-0 lead.
Less than a minute later, at 48:17, Bajrami collected a rebound off a save by UNH keeper Jonathan Creem and fed a pass to
Niclas Dahlin (Kungalv, Sweden), who shot into the left corner to double the Pioneer lead.
Shane Flanagan (Dublin, Ireland) made two stops in goal for the win, as he combined with
Stephen Rigaud (West Hempstead, N.Y.) for the shutout. Creem made five saves in 50:04 minutes for the Charges, and J.J. Comeau made three stops and allowed one goal the remainder of the game.
C.W. Post outshot UNH 20-5 and held a 3-0 edge in corner kicks.
