NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Sept. 5, 2009) –
Southern Connecticut won it's third straight game, as the C.W. Post men's soccer team was unable to find the back of the net in a 3-0 blanking at Jess Dew field in non-conference men's soccer action on Saturday evening.

The Owls improve to 3-1 on the season as the Pioneers dropped to 1-2 overall.

The Pioneers threatened early in the first half as C.W. Post midfielder Kevin McPhillips (East Williston, N.Y.) sent a shot towards the top corner of the goal, but goalkeeper Chris Rybacki (Putnam, Conn.) made a diving save to deny the Pioneers a goal.

The Owls took a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute, as freshman Seth Ragaini (Seymour, Conn.) played a ball over the top of the Pioneer defense to
Victor Hernandez (Rye Brook, N.Y.), who lifted a shot over the head of Pioneer goaltender Shane Flanagan (Lattingtown, N.Y.) into the net for a 1-0 advantage,.

In the second half, the Owls capitalized yet again, as
Paul Templeton (Saltcoats, Scotland) scored in the 61st minute, and the game was firmly in hand for the Owls as Templeton made good on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute, putting Southern Connecticut at a 3-0 advantage.

Rybacki posted six saves in the shutout, while Flanagan stopped four shots in the losing effort.

The Pioneers are back in action at home on Sept. 8 against non-conference opponent, Bloomfield College.  Game time is set for 3 p.m.
