No. 6 Field Hockey Shuts Down Limestone, 3-0

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 14, 2010) – Sixth-ranked C.W. Post defeated Limestone College, 3-0, in a rain soaked non-conference field hockey contest Thursday afternoon on Hickox Field.
C.W. Post improves to 8-4 overall and will face No.4 Bloomsburg at home on Sunday at 2 p.m. Limestone slips to 3-9.
Senior forward
Amanda Nann (Hamburg, N.J.) led C.W. Post's offense with a goal and an assist. Junior midfielder
Amanda Miller (Newton, N.J.) and freshman forward
Carlee Dragon (Bridgewater, N.J.) each tallied goals for the Pioneers.
Nann scored the first goal of the game on a redirect in front of the net after the goalie kicked out a shot from senior forward
Amy Lillis (Holtsville, N.Y.) at 21:30 in the first half to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Pioneers outshot the Saints, 12-2, in the first half and had an 8-1 advantage on penalty corners.
In the second half, Miller scored her second goal of the season when she picked up the ball after the goalie stopped a shot from junior
Brie-Claire Drost (Wading River, N.Y.) and drilled the ball into the cage from out front at 43:33.
Dragon added her eighth goal of the season minutes later at 48:14 when she accepted a pass from Nann and tipped it in for the game's final score.
Senior goalkeeper
Cortney Colern (Barker, N.Y.) recorded her second shutout of the season with one save in goal.
Limestone's Lindsay Hinton was busy making 14 saves in goal.
C.W. Post shut out Limestone in shots in the second half and finished the game outshooting the Saints, 21-2. The Pioneers were ahead 13-4 in penalty corners.
