BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 20, 2010) – Third-ranked East Stroudsburg University registered a 4-0 shutout over seventh-ranked C.W. Post Wednesday afternoon in PSAC East field hockey action on Hickox Field.
East Stroudsburg improves to 13-1 overall and 4-1 in PSAC East action while C.W. Post dips to 8-6 overall and 1-4 in division play.
ESU outshot the Pioneers, 27-8 and held a 12-3 advantage in penalty corners.
The Warriors scored their first goal in the 29th minute when Jessica Frantz found the back of the cage on a 12-yard shot out front on a pass from Kayla Cilenti at the top of the circle.
East Stroudsburg added one more goal before the end of the half when Lauren Ventrella deflected in a shot on a leftside pass from Brittany Kocis.
In the second half, ESU's Caitlin Brownley tallied her seventh goal of the season on a chip shot from the left corner of the goal on a long pass from Joanna Reckley up top at 62:18.
The Warrrior added their final goal in the 69th minute when Katie Anderson redirected the ball in a long shot from Frantz.
Senior goalkeeper Cortney Colern (Barker, N.Y.) made 11 saves in goal for the Pioneers. Sophomore midfielder Kellie Finn (Goshen, Conn.) made two defensive saves while senior defenders Vicky DeRosa (Wading River, N.Y.) and Kristina Gustafson (New Braintree, Mass.) each had one.
Maureen Odrnung made stops in goal for the Warriors.
C.W. Post is back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 26 when it hosts a non-conference tilt against American International at 4 p.m.
