– Ryan Walters scored on a redirect shot in front of the goal to send Nyack College to a 2-1 double overtime victory over C.W. Post Thursday afternoon in a non-conference men's soccer matchup. Nyack forced the overtime frames with a come from behind goal with one minute and four seconds remaining in the second half.
The win improves Nyack to 7-10 overall while C.W. Post slips to 6-7-1.
The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the first half when sophomore forward Betim Bajrami (Helsingborg, Sweden) scored his sixth goal of the season in the 32nd minute on a shot into the lower left corner on a pass from freshman midfielder Daniel Hawkins (Randaberg, Norway).
C.W. Post entered the halftime outshooting Nyack 14-4.
It looked like the Pioneers had the game closed out with the final minutes winding down until Nyack rallied to tie the game with 1:04 remaining when Bobby Caskran took a corner pass from Ryan Campo and shot it into the lower right corner of the goal.
The first overtime went scoreless even as C.W. Post was outshooting the visitors, 5-0.
In the second overtime, the only shot the Pioneers got off was a header from freshman forward Joakim Ohlson (Lund, Sweden) that went high over the crossbar.
After an offside call was made against C.W. Post, Nyack took possession over and moved the ball down the field, setting up for Walters' game-winner.
C.W. Post completed the game outshooting Nyack by a 31-11 count and held a 12-1 advantage on corners.
Senior Ed Shone (Liverpool, England) made five saves in goal for C.W. Post. Nyack goalkeeper Adrian Ibanez had 13 stops for the Warriors.

Prior to the start of the game, head coach Andreas Lindberg and his coaching staff honored seniors Shone, Chris Leaver (London, England), Johan Jintoft (Gothenburg Sweden), Kohsro Panah (Helsingborg, Sweden), Matt Madarasz (Smithtown, N.Y.), and Emanuel Messina (Lynbrook, N.Y.),
C.W. Post closes out the regular season at home on Saturday, Oct. 30 against Queens College with kickoff slated for 2:30 p.m.
