Men's Soccer Defeats Queens in Must-Win Matchup, 2-0

Eirik Bjoernoe (Randaberg, Norway) assisted on both goals as the C.W. Post men's soccer team defeated Queens College 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in East Coast Conference men's soccer action.
The Pioneers improve to 7-8-1 overall, but more importantly 4-3 in conference play, which secures the #4 seed in the upcoming ECC championships. Queens slips to 5-12-1, 3-3-1 in conference play.
The Pioneer put pressure on the Knights early on, and their offensive efforts paid off in the 24th minute as
David Borysewicz (Bay Shore, N.Y.) served up a long cross from the right side, finding Bjoernoe making a long run up the left sideline. Bjoernoe floated a lob pass across the goal mouth to a wide-open
Rumen Kerekov (Sofia, Bulgaria), who headed the ball into the lower right corner for the 1-0 advantage.
Bjoernoe struck again in the 69th minute as he took a free kick and served up a long cross from the right side, finding the head of
Neil Franco (Staten Island, N.Y.) for a goal into the upper shelf and a 2-0 lead.
The teams were evenly matched the whole way, with Queens taking 14 shots to CWP's 13, and holding a 5-3 corner advantage. Freshman goalkeeper
Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) made four stops in goal while QC keeper Demetrios Touros also had four saves.
The Pioneers await the final ECC seedings to find out their opening round match on Friday.
