– Sophomore forward Mia Paltrineri (Middletown, Del.) scored both the game-tying and eventual game-winning goal to steer No. 6 C.W. Post past Adelphi University in a 3-2 overtime win Tuesday afternoon on Hickox Field.
C.W. Post improves to 6-3 overall while Adelphi slips to 4-4.

The Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the first half courtesy of goals from sophomore defender Danielle Demola in the 27th minute on a give-and-go off a corner pass from junior midfielder Brittany Kinsley and junior forward Jeanette Heimerle added the second goal on a back handed shot from Julianne Gerbino in the 30th minute.

At the half, Adelphi was outshooting the host team by a 16-3 count and held a 13-1 advantage in penalty corners.

C.W. Post clawed its way back into the game in the second half, beginning with a goal from freshman forward Carlee Dragon (Bridgewater, N.J.) on a chip in shot from the right side from Paltrineri at 48:36.
Paltrineri scored the equalizer on a shot out front on a tipped pass from junior defender Helene Bruckner (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) at 67:13.

Neither team would score again before regulation ran out, forcing the game into an extra frame.
In the overtime, the Pioneers were awarded a penalty corner, setting up for the goal. Junior forward Kathryn Godshalk (Hilton, N.Y.) set up the penalty corner who passed the ball to senior midfielder Vicky DeRosa (Wading River, N.Y.). DeRosa then passed off to senior forward Amanda Nann (Hamburg, N.J.) who redirected it back to Godshalk as Paltrineri waited in front of the cage for the score.

Junior Devon Trenkle (New City, N.Y.) made 11 saves in goal to improve her record to 2-1. Her counterpart Kristine Puzio made seven stops in goal.

C.W. Post returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 9 for an early morning game against top-ranked Shippensburg University at 8:30 a.m. on Hickox.
