Turan and Austboe Earn ECC Weekly Honors
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Sept. 6, 2011) - Sophomore forward Cemil Turan (Staten Island, N.Y.) and freshman forward Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway), were named the ECC Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as the conference announced its first weekly awards of the year on Tuesday afternoon.
Turan totaled seven points to help the Pioneers to a 2-0 record in their first two games of 2011, scoring three goals with one assist. He notched two goals in the season opener against St. Anselm and added one assist. Two days later, Turan scored the game winner in double overtime against Holy Family.
Austboe tied for team lead with seven total points to open 2011, helping the Pioneers to two wins to start the season. He scored two goals with one helper in a 6-1 win over St. Anselm and then scored one goal in the 3-2 win over Holy Family.
C.W. Post will take on Concordia on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 4 p.m. in the team's home opener.
