Men's Soccer Defeats Bentley, 2-0

Rumen Kerekov (Sofia, Bulgaria) each scored a goal to lead the C.W. Post men's soccer team over Bentley University in non-conference action on Friday afternoon.
The Pioneers earn their first victory of the season and improve to 1-2 overall, while Bentley suffered its first defeat and now stands at 2-1.
Both CWP goals came late in the match as sophomore striker Betim Bajrami (Helsingborg, Sweden) gained control of the ball inside the box and sent a pass out to Carlsson at the top left corner of the box. Carlsson took two touches then sent a shot into the upper left corner.
The Pioneers doubled their lead 15 minutes later, as senior midfielder Kohsro Panah (Helsingborg, Sweden) sent a pass to streaking Kerekov, who connected into the lower right corner for a 2-0 lead at 66:31.
The Pioneers outshot Bentley 21-10 while freshman goalkeeper Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) made three stops, earning his first collegiate victory in the net. The Pioneers also took nine corner kicks to Bentley's two, as the Falcons got eight stops in goal from graduate keeper Mike Nikiforov (Framingham, Mass.). Kerekov led C.W. Post with eight shots.
The Pioneers are on the road again as they travel to Merrimack on Sunday, Sept. 12 for a 1 p.m. contest. Following three more away contests, C.W. Post returns home to host St. Anselm on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 4 p.m.
