SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Sept. 22, 2010)
 – Sophomore midfielder Callum Congreve (Sheffield, England) netted the game-winner in the 103rd-minute to give American International a 3-2 win in double overtime, as the C.W. Post men's soccer team fell 3-2 to the Yellow Jackets despite storming back from a 2-0 deficit to force the overtime periods in non-conference action on Wednesday night.
C.W. Post slides to 1-4-1 overall, while AIC bumps up to 2-4-1 on the season.
The Yellow Jackets took an early lead when senior forward Sean Stevenson (Holyoke, Mass.) broke through for a goal 13 minutes into the first half off a pass from Congreve. Stevenson struck again in the 58th minute to give the Yellow Jackets a 2-0 lead.
However, the Pioneers showed resiliency as they continued to apply offensive pressure, peppering the Yellow Jacket keeper with shots, and the visitors pulled within one when freshman midfielder Joakim Ohlson (Lund, Sweden) scored an unassisted goal at 78:39. With just six minutes remaining and regulation and the Pioneers down 2-1, senior forward Rumen Kerekov (Sofia, Belgaria) tied up the game on another unassisted strike and sent the game into extra time.
Both teams had scoring opportunities during the first OT period but neither could convert, 7:41 remaining in the second overtime frame, Congreve found the back of the goal for the game-winner.
Graduate goalkeeper Ed Shone (Liverpool, England) stopped seven shots in the loss, while AIC goalkeeper James Taber (Liverpool, N.Y.) made 14 saves in seal to earn the victory.
C.W. Post outshot AIC 25-19 and also held an 8-4 advantage in corners.
The Pioneers open the ECC portion of their schedule on Saturday, taking on NYIT at noon.
