No. 3 West Chester Slips Past No. 7 Field Hockey, 6-4
WEST CHESTER, Pa. (Oct. 11, 2011) – Despite a brief 4-3 lead in the second half, the No. 7 C.W. Post Pioneers were unable to hang on to the No. 3 West Chester Golden Rams, who rallied to a 6-4 win in a PSAC East clash Tuesday afternoon.
West Chester improves to 10-3 overall and 5-2 in the PSAC East. C.W. Post dips to 8-5 overall and 2-3 in conference action.
West Chester built itself a 3-0 lead in the first half, beginning in the sixth minute when Nicole Fiorilla scored unassisted. Teammates Kelsi Lykens and Kayla Gluchowski added goals in the 23rd and 25th minute.
The Pioneer offense answered back with one first half goal from sophomore midfielder
Carlee Dragon (Bridgewater, N.J.) on a penalty stroke in the 34th minute. C.W. Post got two more quick goals, starting with a goal from graduate midfielder
Bethany Semlear (Sag Harbor, N.Y.) in the 38th minute. The game-tying goal was scored by freshman forward
Paige Albano (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) on a pass from Semlear in the 39th minute.
C.W. Post took the lead minutes later when Dragon found the cage on a feed from freshman forward
Lyn-Marie Wilson (St. Michael's, Barbados) in the 47th minute.
West Chester regrouped, however, and evened the score when Brynn Adams scored on a penalty corner in the 63rd minute. The Golden Rams scored the go-ahead goal less than a minute later when Fiorilla scored her second goal of the game in the 64th minute. They added an insurance goal with 36 seconds left to play in the game when Carly Buckwalter scored off a penalty corner.
West Chester finished the game outshooting C.W. Post, 23-16, and had a 13-9 advantage in penalty corners.

Devon Trenkle (New City, N.Y.) made a game-high 11 saves in goal for the Pioneers.
