FLUSHING, N.Y. (Oct. 22, 2011) – C.W. Post scored three second half goals to overcome a first half deficit and remain on top of the East Coast Conference standings with a 3 -1 victory over Queens College on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers improve to 13-1-1 overall and 5-0-1 in ECC action while Queens bumps to 6-7-3 overall, 3-2-1 in conference play.
Queens scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute on Peter Touros' pass to Kevin Vasquez for an 8-yard shot.
C.W. Post tied the game in the 67th minute as
Cemil Turan (Staten Island, N.Y.) put in a header on a cross from
Andreas Olson (Oppeid, Norway).
The Pioneers pulled ahead on Olson's goal in the 75th minute, as a failed Queens clear attempt gave Olson a clear shot and he did not miss from 12-yards out.
The visitors tacked on an insurance goal in the 88th minute as
Henrik Idsoe (Stavanger, Norway) assisted on
Eivind Austboe's (Stavanger, Norway) 35-yard shot into the lower right corner.
Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) made three saves for the Pioneers, who held a 12-8 edge in shots and a slight 3-2 advantage in corners.
The Pioneers host American International on Monday at 2 p.m.
