Mike Messina Honored With David Leistman Memorial Award
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 31, 2011) – Mike Messina '11, a recent graduate of C.W. Post who played men's lacrosse, was awarded this year's David Leistman Memorial Award for Outstanding Division Player of the Year.
Messina, who also was recognized as the USILA Outstanding Player of the Year as well as the Lt. Donald McLaughlin Jr. Award for Most Outstanding Midfielder, completed his four-year career at C.W. Post racking up 70 goals and 28 assists, including 29 goals and seven assists in 2011. He was voted the 2011 East Coast Conference Player of the Year and is a three-time USILA All-American.
David Leistman played lacrosse at Adelphi University and was a member of the 1979 National Championship team. He passed away tragically in the World Trade Tower attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
