Kitton's Goal Pushes Women's Soccer Past NYIT, 2-1

Morgan Kitton (Bellmore, N.Y.) scored the game-winner in the 61st minute as the C.W. Post women's soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over New York Institute of Technology on Wednesday evening.
The Pioneers climb above .500 at 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the East Coast Conference, while NYIT evens at 5-5 and 0-3 in conference play.
Sophomore
Alexa Niciforo (Islip, N.Y.) scored early to get the Pioneers on the board, as she took a corner off the foot of
Prudence Rydstrom (East Islip, N.Y.) and headed into the lower left corner.
The Pioneers held the lead into the halftime break, but NYIT came out and scored the equalizer in the 53rd minute at
Natasha Arana took a shot that hit off the crossbar and went right to the feet of Natali Arana, who put it into the lower right corner from seven yards out.
The tie was broken quickly by Kitton, who shot from 25-yards out on the right wing, with the ball hitting off the left post and
past the diving NYIT goalie into the lower right corner.
Senior goalkeeper
Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) made six stops in the victory, while Kristen O'Connor and Kathryn Miller split the game in goal and each made four saves apiece.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday at noon as they host St. Thomas Aquinas in another ECC matchup.
