Namahoe Named to Volleyball All-Conference Second Team for Second Straight Year
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 11, 2011) – For the second straight year, C.W. Post volleyball sophomore
Makamae Namahoe (Hilo, Hawaii) has been named to the ECC All-Conference Second Team. The conference released its All-Conference and major awards early this afternoon.
Namahoe earned the honor behind leading this year's Pioneer squad in kills (331), kills per set average (2.81), and service aces (38). The Hawaiian sophomore also finished the season with 308 digs and 69 total blocks in 31 matches played this season, including 118 sets. She has also helped the Pioneers finish the regular season on a strong note with a six-match winning streak, helping the team qualify for a number four seed in the ECC Tournament.
For the conference's major awards, Maja Potpara took home the top award as she was named the ECC Volleyball Player of the Year. Lisa Peacock from NYIT garnered Libero of the Year for the third straight year while Bridgeport outside hitter, Biljana Savic, was named the Rookie of the Year. Coach of the Year honors were presented to Rick Cole, Jr. of Dowling.
The C.W. Post team will be in action this evening, as Namahoe and the rest of the Pioneers will face off against the number one seed Dowling Lions in the ECC Tournament. The match is set to follow the number two and three seeded game, Bridgeport and NYIT, at Dowling. The first match is set to begin at 5 p.m., with the Pioneer's match schedule for 7:30 p.m.
