Football Wins Third Straight With 33-15 Win Over Gannon

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 12, 2011) – The C.W. Post football team capped off its 2011 season with a 33-15 win over Gannon University Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game on Hickox Field.
C.W. Post improves its record to 7-4 overall while Gannon slips to 4-7.
Redshirt freshman
Steven Laurino (Boise, Idaho) completed 16 of 28 pass attempts for 209 yard and two touchdowns. His brother, junior
Grayson Laurino (Boise, Idaho) caught six of those passes for 84 yards and one touchdown.
Gannon scored the game's first touchdown in the first quarter when Jansen Jones rushed in for a 9-yard scored. The Golden Knights added to their lead with a 26-yard field goal from Matt Szczupakowski in the second at 10:18.
C.W. Post got on the board midway through the second when sophomore
Anthony Brunetti (Bayville, N.Y.) charged into the endzone from the 2-yard line at 7:34. The Pioneers tied the game just before the half when freshman
Marc Montana (East Amherst, N.Y.) nailed a 31-yard field goal.
In the third quarter, the Pioneers took the lead when Brunetti scored his second touchdown of the game on a 5-yard run at 5:44.
The Golden Knights lost possession on the second play of their next drive on a fumble and C.W. Post's
Ronnie Modik (Levittown, N.Y.) recovered it at Gannon's 33, setting up for a drive that resulted in a 17-yard touchdown pass from Steven to Grayson at 4:02. Gannon put two points up when Chris Cook blocked the PAT and Khayree Connors returned it for a defensive PAT.
In the fourth quarter, the Pioneer offense continued to control the ball well. Laurino completed his second TD pass of the game to sophomore
Joe Botti (Holtsville, N.Y.) at the 10-minute mark.
Gannon got one more score on the board as Szczupakowski kicked his second field goal from 28 yards out at 8:44.
Montana recorded the final scored of the game when he swished a 26-yard offering through the uprights at 2:05.
Sophomore
Jeff Mack (Bronx,N.Y.) led the game in rushing with 70 yards on 19 carries. Brunetti finished the game with 66 yards on 15 carries and caught four passes for 52 yards.
Senior
Billy O'Connor (Sayville, N.Y.) recorded 11 tackles for the Pioneers. In all, the C.W. Post defense made 64 stops along with two sacks, two forced fumbles, two interceptions, three break ups and five QB hurries.
Gannon quarterback Daniel Tapscott completed 13 of 30 pass attempts for 191 yards. Abraham Ocasio caught two passes for 64 yards. Jones finished the game with 15 carries for 57 yards and one touchdown. Khayree Connors led the game with 12 tackles.
