BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 7, 2011) – The C.W. Post men's soccer team has earned a bid to the 2011 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championships. The Pioneers, ranked 6th in the NSCAA poll, earned the third seed in the East Region, and will travel to Manchester, N.H. as Southern New Hampshire University will serve as host.
The Pioneers, 16-2-1 overall, will meet sixth-seeded Nyack (13-5-2). The Warriors handed the Pioneers one of their two losses, 1-0, in a meeting early in the season. The game will take place on Friday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m., with the winner advancing to face the Penmen, who receive a first round bye, on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The winner of that game will advance to the Division II quarterfinals the following weekend, to be hosted by the highest remaining seed.
The most recent NCAA bid for the Pioneers came in 2006, when they lost to Dowling, 3-0, in the first round. At 16-2-1, the Pioneers are tied with the 1993 team for most wins in program history.
As additional information about the Regional becomes available, more details will be posted.
