Joyner, Williams Sweep This Week's ECC Awards
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Dec. 19, 2011) – C.W. Post women's basketball made a clean sweep of this week's East Coast Conference weekly awards as senior guard
Felicia Joyner (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was named Player of the Week and freshman guard
Chelsea Williams (Copiague, N.Y.) was recognized for Rookie of the Week.
Joyner averaged 21.5 points in two games last week against Saint Rose and No. 1 Bentley, shooting .500 from field goal range (14-28). She led the Pioneers to an upset victory with a game-high 27 points against Bentley while also grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out five assists. Against Saint Rose, Joyner poured in 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Williams averaged 11.0 points in two games last week against Saint Rose and No. 1 Bentley. Against Saint Rose, she came off the bench and led the charge with 17 points. She followed that up with five points along with a steal against Bentley.
C.W. Post posted a 2-0 record this past weekend with victories over Saint Rose (59-50) and top-ranked Bentley (85-71). The Pioneers (7-4, 0-2 ECC) resume action on Dec. 29 against UMass-Lowell.
