Men's Soccer Signs Two More Players for 2011
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (June 9, 2011) – C.W. Post head men's soccer coach Andreas Lindberg announced that two more will play for C.W. Post beginning in the fall of 2011, as Arlind Nika (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Dusan Gargurevich (Farmingville, N.Y.) have committed to the Pioneers.
Nika played for Tottenville High School, where he received the Pele Award and the Defensive Player of the Year Award. The two-time State Island Advance All-Star helped the Pirates to an undefeated season, along withi a SIHSSL and Staten Island PSAL Championship, as well as a semi-final appearance in the NYC PSAL Championships. Lindberg on Nika: "Arlind is the fourth player from Met Oval to play for the Pioneers, as he will join current Pioneers Leron Haywood and Victor Muntean as well as fellow signee Daniel Begonja. He is a fast and strong player with a great attitude, and he is very coachable."
Gargurevich, a dual citizen of both the United States and Ecuador, attended middle school at Sachem, playing club soccer for the Sachem Arsenal, HBC Flames and Commack Warriors, and helping the Flames and Warriors to win a Division 1 Championship. He then attended Centebad in Quito, Ecuador, where he played for the Eucaliptos FC and helped them to an Indoor National Championship. He played club soccer in Ecuador for the liga deQuito, Universidad Catolica and C.D. America. He was also a member of the Eastern NY Boys ODP, and has family ties to C.W. Post, as his mother Aurora is an alumni of the school. Lindberg on Gargurevich: "Dusan is a great offensive player that can beat players one-on-one and score goals. We have high expectations for his freshman year."
