Kiser Recognized By ECC With Excellence in Community and Character Award
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (June 9, 2011) – C.W. Post softball senior Sarah Kiser (Arnold, Md.) was recently recognized by the East Coast Conference with the Excellence in Community and Character Award.
Excellence in Community and Character Award recipients are student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through positive actions and behaviors that are consistent with the NCAA Division II attributes of learning, service, passion, sportsmanship, balance and resourcefulness.
“This award is not just for the best student, best athlete, the best sportsman or woman,” said ECC Commissioner Dr. Robert Dranoff. “This is an award for all around excellence. With many strong nominees, the choices were difficult but we have selected three very deserving student-athletes.”
Kiser, the 2011 ECC Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, excelled in the classroom with a 3.9 GPA through her four years and was accepted into the highly selective Nutrition program at Arizona State. Also a standout on the field, Kiser posted a 17-7 record with a 2.19 ERA in her final season as a Pioneer. Sarah has been the Softball SAAC representative for the past two year and ran fundraising initiatives including Score for the Cure and Breast Cancer Awareness events and served as SAAC President this year. As team captain, Kiser's dedication and leadership has proved to be an asset as her team captured their third Regional title and are ranked 25th in the Nation.
