BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 10, 2011) –
Sophomore forward Carlee Dragon (Bridgewater, N.J.) scored the tying goal and assisted on the game winner, helping C.W. Post field hockey to a 2-1 non-conference victory over Franklin Pierce on Saturday afternoon on Hickox Field.

The Pioneers improve to 2-0 overall, while Pierce slips to 2-2 on the season.

The Ravens jumped out to an early lead in the first half, as Danielle Dolan sent a cross from the ride side across the goal, and Tia Levins' reverse stick shot went into the lower left corner past a diving Devon Trenkle (New City, N.Y.) in the 22nd minute.

But just over ten minutes later, the Pioneers scored the equalizer on a corner, as Kathryn Godshalk (Hilton, N.Y.) sent a pass out to Dragon, who smashed a shot into the top left corner, knotting the game and one apiece.

The teams battled back and forth with C.W. Post controlling the majority of the action, until the 58th minute as Dragon took a corner pass from Godshalk and slid a pass to Helene Bruckner (Port Jefferson, N.Y.), who converted an eight-yard shot into the lower right corner to give the hosts the lead.

That would be all the Pioneers would need as a strong defensive effort backed the play of Trenkly, who
made two saves in the cage. FPU goalie Brittany Nyzio made seven stops on the afternoon.

The Pioneers outshot Pierce 14-6 and has a 12-3 penalty corner advantage.

C.W. Post will open PSAC play on Tuesday as it hosts East Stroudsburg at 4 p.m.
