Dragon's Hat Trick Leads Field Hockey Past Mansfield, 6-1

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Sept. 17, 2011) – Sophomore forward
Carlee Dragon (Bridgewater, N.J.) recorded a season-high three goals to lead C.W. Post past Mansfield University, 6-1, in a non-conference field hockey clash played Saturday afternoon at Lock Haven University.
C.W. Post improves to 4-1 overall while Mansfield falls to 2-3.
Dragon finished the game with eight points on three goals and two assists.
Senior defender
Helene Bruckner (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) scored the first goal of the game when she tipped in a shot through the goalkeeper's legs on a pass from Dragon in the 11th minute.
Dragon scored her first goal of the game at 15:24 on a long pass through the defense from senior midfielder
Bethany Semlear (Sag Harbor, N.Y.). Dragon tallied her second goal 36 seconds later in the game on a short pass from Semlear and into the bottom right corner.
The Pioneers weren't done scoring in the first half and got another goal from Bruckner on a cross pass from Dragon at 26:05.
In the second half, Semlear added a goal of her own just under three minutes in when she took advantage of the goalkeeper coming out of the cage and fired on goal.
C.W. Post's final goal was scored in the 65th minute when Dragon accepted a pass from freshman defender
Taylor-Bay Sutton (Phillipsburg, N.J.) in a scramble and put it into the goal.
The Mounties broke up the shutout in the 69th minute when Taryn Schawillie fired a shot into the right corner on a cross from Kristy Tutorow.
Senior goalkeeper
Devon Trenkle (New City, N.Y.) made eight saves in goal for the win.
The Mounties finished the game outshooting the Pioneers, 15-14, and held a 6-3 advantage in penalty corners.
C.W. Post returns to action when it hosts West Chester on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. on Hickox Field.
