KUTZTOWN, Pa. (Sept. 24, 2011) – Sophomore midfielder
Carlee Dragon (Bridgewater, N.J.) registered a season-high four goals to lead No. 9 C.W. Post past No. 6 Kutztown, 5-1, Saturday evening in a PSAC East field hockey contest.
C.W. Post improves to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference. The loss drops Kutztown to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
The Bears went up 1-0 in the 19th minute when Jenna Gregory scored on an assist from Imani Ferguson.
The Pioneers matched it seconds later when Dragon found the back of the cage on a pass from senior
Amanda Miller (Newton, N.J.).
C.W. Post took the lead when senior defender
Helene Bruckner (Port Jefferson, N.J.) fired a shot in goal in the 31stminute. The Pioneers were not done scoring before the half ended as Dragon scored unassisted in the 33rd minute.
Dragon continued to dominate in the second half as she put two more in, beginning with goal scored on a penalty corner in the 47th minute followed by another in the 49th with assists from sophomore
Ashley Oracewski (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and freshman
Tara Dougherty (Wilmington, Del.).
Senior
Devon Trenkle (New City, N.Y.) made three saves in goal for her fifth win of the season.
Both teams took 11 shots while Kutztown held a 9-8 advantage in penalty corners.
