CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Sept. 26, 2011) -  Sophomore forward Cemil Turan (Staten Island, N.Y.) and freshman forward Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway), were named the ECC Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as the conference announced its weekly awards of the year on Monday afternoon.

Turan scored two goals and one assist for four total points on the week. Both of his goals went for game-winners, with his 59th minute goal against Philadelphia putting the Pioneers ahead in the contest, followed by a huge 75th minute goal against ECC opponent Bridgeport in the Pioneers' conference opener that would be the difference maker as C.W. Post won, 1-0.

Austboe led the Pioneers to a 2-0 week with seven points coming on three goals and one assist. He registered a hat trick against Philadelphia, scoring the tying goal in the first half and adding two more in the second half. Austboe leads the Pioneers with nine goals on the season.

In addition, Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) was named to the weekly honor roll. Jorgensen posted a 2-0 record to improve to 8-0 on the season, allowing one goal in 180:00 minutes. He made 11 saves, including seven against Bridgeport to earn the shutout and help the Pioneers defeat the Purple Knights in the conference opener.

The Pioneers travel to Dowling this Saturday for an evening game that showcases the ECC Champions of the past two seasons, as the Pioneers were 2009 champs and the Golden Lions won the conference in 2010.
