High Offense Powers West Chester To 41-6 Win Over Football

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (Oct. 13, 2012) – West Chester University rolled to a 41-6 win over LIU Post in a Saturday afternoon PSAC East football contest on John A. Farrell Field.
 
West Chester improves to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play.  LIU Post slips to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the PSAC East.
 
The Goldem Rams scored their first touchdown with 5:01 to play in the first quarter when Rondell White rushed into the endzone for 38 yards that was followed by an extra point kick by Shawn Leo.
 
The Pioneers responded early in the second quarter as sophomore quarterback Steven Laurino (Boise, Idaho) found junior running back Anthony Brunetti (Bayville, N.Y.) for a 13-yard touchdown completion.  However, freshman Tim Sternfeld's (Wyckoff, N.J.) extra point kick sailed wide left to leave the Pioneers still trailing, 7-6.
 
West Chester made quick work in the quarter with three unanswered scores, beginning with a 7-yard completion pass to Tom Shrader at 5:18 followed by a 21-yard touchdown pass to White.  The Golden Rams concluded with a 26-yard field goal from Leo as time expired on the game clock. 
 
West Chester continued its offensive into third quarter with two touchdowns and a field goal.  White accounted for both touchdowns with 22 and 89 yard pass completions while Leo kicked a 27-yard field goal through the uprights.
 
West Chester amassed 486 yards of offense on 70 plays.  White finished the game with 343 offensive yards that included three touchdown completions and one rushing.
 
LIU Post totaled 326 yards on 74 plays.  Laurino completed 22 of 35 pass attempts for 189 yards and a touchdown.  Junior Joe Botti (Holtsville, N.Y.) caught five passes for a team-high 85 yards.  Junior defensive back Evan Flowers (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the defensive with a game-high 18 tackles.
 
LIU Post returns home to host Millersville University next Saturday at 1 p.m. as part of its Homecoming festivities.
