Turan Named ECC Co-Player of the Week
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (October 22, 2012) - The East Coast Conference announced their weekly awards and LIU Post junior forward
Cemil TuraN (Staten Island, N.Y.) was selected as the Co-Offensive Player of the week.
Turan totaled nine points on four goals and an assist last week. He also scored two game-winners as his goal against Philadelphia was the difference-maker in a 1-0 contest, and his first half hat trick opened the scoring in an 8-2 win over Queens.
The third-ranked LIU Post men's soccer team won both games last week to improve to 14-1 on the season and 7-1 in conference play, tied with Bridgeport for first place in the ECC with one conference game remaining. The Pioneers defeated Philadelphia 1-0, then exploded for an 8-2 victory over Queens, led by four goals from Turan and two from
Andreas Olson (Oppeid, Norway). The Pioneers will host Post University on Tuesday at 3 p.m., followed by a trip to Molloy to wrap up the regular season on Saturday.
