Football Falls In Season Finale To Kutztown, 14-12

KUTZTOWN, Pa. (Nov. 17, 2012) – Kutztown University held off LIU Post for a 14-12 victory in both teams' season finale Saturday afternoon in a PSAC East football clash.
Kutztown closes out its season with 7-4 overall record and 4-3 mark in the PSAC East while LIU Post falls to 3-7 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
The Golden Bears took a 7-9 lead in the first quarter after Kevin Morton completed a 23-yard pass from Brett Fox. Morton found Fox open again in the second quarter for a 32-yard completion to lead 14-0.
The Pioneers got on the board with 5:40 to play in the second as senior
Grayson Laurino (Boise, Idaho) sprinted into the endzone for a 1-yard score but could not execute the 2-point attempt.
LIU Post closed the gap in the fourth when sophomore
Tyler Heuer (Oceanside, N.Y.) fired a 3-yard pass to senior
Pat Fitzgerald (Asheville, N.C.) to cut the lead to 14-12. But that was all the Pioneers could do as Kutztown was able to keep them out of the endzone for the remainder of the game.
Heuer completed 15 of 32 pass attempts for 79 yards and a touchdown and led the team in rushing yards with 98. Juniors
Tommy Williams (Westbury, N.Y.) and
Chris DiIorio (Holtsville, N.Y.) each made six tackles for the Pioneers. Senior
D.J. Young (Highland Mills, N.Y.) recorded a 20-yard interception while senior
Antonio Powell-Fields (Hempstead, N.Y.) also recorded a pick.
Morton completed 22 of 35 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns for the Golden Bears.
