Jorgensen and Austboe Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (November 5, 2012) - The 2012 Capital One Academic All-District ® Men's Soccer Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom, and two members of the LIU Post men's soccer team, junior
Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) and sophomore
Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway), were named to the District 1 First Team
Jorgensen, a junior goalkeeper, has an 17-1 record between the pipes, with a 0.99 goals against average and a .795 save percentage. A political science/economics major with a GPA of 3.98, Jorgensen ranks first in the ECC and 15th in the nation in save percentage and first in conference and 24th nationally in goals against average with four shutouts to his credit.
Austboe, a sophomore forward, played in seven games and totaled 19 points on eight goals and three assists before suffering a season-ending injury. Despite missing the second half of the season, he is still third on the team and in the top ten in the conference in goals and points. A business management major, he has a GPA of 3.93.
The Academic All-District ® teams include student-athletes in eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the second year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
