Two Men's Soccer Players Earn All-America Accolades; Pioneers Ranked 13th in Final Poll

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (December 6, 2012) – Two more post-season awards were added to the pile for LIU Post men's soccer junior duo
Eirik Bjoernoe (Randaberg, Norway) and
Cemil Turan (Staten Island, N.Y.), as Bjoernoe was named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Men's All-America First Team, and Turan was named to the Second Team.
The Pioneers were also ranked No. 13 in the final NSCAA rankings released this past week.
Both players had standout seasons for the Pioneers, as Bjoernoe led the Pioneers with 12 assists, ranking in top ten in the NCAA in total assists and assists per game and finishing first in the conference as well. He also scored four goals to total 20 points, good for second on the team, all while captaining a defense that ranked first in the conference in goals allowed.
Meanwhile, earning ECC Player of the Year for the second straight season, Turan was once again displayed strong offensive production, totaling 24 points behind 15 goals and four assists. His five game-winners led the way for the Pioneers as he makes his second straight appearance as an NSCAA All-American, as he earned Third Team accolades in 2011.
The Pioneers, who set a new school record with an 18-2 record, won the 2012 East Coast Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA second round for the second straight year.
