Men's Soccer Adds Another for 2012
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 25, 2012) C.W. Post head men's soccer coach
Andreas Lindberg announced another player has committed to play for C.W. Post beginning in the fall of 2012, as
Ruben Diaz (Staten Island, N.Y.) will suit up for the Pioneers.
"Ruben is a solid defender that reads the game very well,” said Lindberg. “Ruben has a great understanding of the game and always communicates with his team mates. He has the right character to fit in well with our team. I'm very pleased to sign yet another Met Oval Academy player.”
Diaz, a native of Tottenville, captained the Pirates this past season, as has been a varsity starter for four seasons. He has earned an MVP award, a Silver Star award, as was selected this season for the NYC Mayor's Cup.
A three-year player for Met Oval, the U.S. Soccer Federation Developmental Academy team in Brooklyn, Diaz will join several former Met Oval players on the Pioneer roster, including
Leron Haywood, Victor Muntean, Arlind Nika and
Daniel Begonja, along with fellow incoming freshman
Matias Ruiz.
Diaz is a member of the Puerto Rican U-20 National team, and started all four games in the Dallas Cup with the national team that won three games and lost to the eventual finalist in the quarterfinals. He is expected to play in the qualifiers in July with Puerto Rica against Barbados, Haiti and Bermuda.
